Bates earned All-America honors with a No. 16 finish at the 2014 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Nationak Championship in Louisville, Ky. She finished second among freshmen in the field with 21:39.5 and led UCCS to a No. 20 finish in the team standings.

Bates is the 11th All-American in UCCS women's cross country history and the first since 2012.
