Brittany Hernandez became the first women's basketball student-athlete in the RMAC to sweep Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors after a 2-0 weekend for the Mountain Lions against Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines.

Hernandez scored 32 points and was a perfect 13-of-13 at the free throw line on Friday night against the Yellow Jackets as she surpassed the 1,000-point mark of her career. She made seven rebounds and six steals. Hernandez added 28 points with four rebounds, four blocked shots and was six-of-six at the free throw line on Saturday night against the Hardrockers. She moved into seventh in UCCS career scoring records with 1,040 points in her career.

Hernandez is leading the RMAC with 20.8 points per game and is averaging almost four points per game more than the next closest student-athlete. She is second with 2.4 steals per game behind teammate Jen Vigil, third with 86.7 percent at the free throw line and fourth with 1.8 blocked shots per game and 7.7 rebounds per game. Hernandez is leading the South Central Region in scoring average, 183 made field goals. She is eighth in the nation in scoring average.
