Tyler Tvelia joined the Mountain Lion Athletics Department in August 2021 and was elevated to Sports Information Director in August 2024. He is entering his fourth year with the Mountain Lions in 2024-25.
A native of Lake Arrowhead, Calif., Tvelia is a former NCAA Division III cross country and track & field student-athlete at California Lutheran University. While at Cal Lutheran, Tvelia worked as a student assistant for the athletic department from 2017 to 2018 where he assisted the Sports Information Director with assorted tasks that included website management, organizing student-athlete photoshoots, and the creation and distribution of print media.
After earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Sport Management from CLU in 2018, Tvelia went on to continue his education in the fall of 2019, pursuing his Master of Arts Degree in Sport Management at Long Beach State University. Throughout his master's program, Tvelia continued his experiences within the athletic communications field as an intern with the University of California, Irvine Athletic Department before graduating with his Master's Degree in January of 2021. During his time at UC Irvine, Tvelia assisted both in the office and on game days for the Anteaters.
In the office, Tvelia promoted and highlighted the exceptional accomplishments of the university's student-athletes by taking the lead on features such as the student-athlete Q&A series and Buffalo Wild Wings Scholar-Athlete Spotlights. He also generated creative social media content to promote UCI's athletic programs and increased fan engagement while producing and distributing athletic publications such as game recaps, game notes, game-day programs, and media guides.
As a member of the UC Irvine game-day staff, Tvelia assisted with post-game write-ups, produced in-game social media content, and distributed stats as well as other pertinent information to TV/radio talent and other media members. In addition to distributing stats, he also assisted with statistical research and recorded live stats for the Anteaters' home baseball games.
In his role as UCCS' Sports Information Director, Tvelia is responsible for sport oversight for men's soccer, track & field, and softball. Additionally, he oversees athletic facility scheduling and social media.
