UCCS Athletics

The UCCS Athletic Department added a familiar face to the athletic communications office when Jake Ross was named the Assistant Sports Information Director in June 2023.  Ross' will primarily oversee women's soccer, men's basektball and baseball for the sports information department. 
 
Ross, who graduated from UCCS with his Bachelor of Arts in Communications in December of 2022, joins the Mountain Lion Athletic Department on a full-time basis after spending the previous three years assisting the UCCS sports information department in a variety of roles both on game days and in the office.
 
In addition to serving as one of the department's primary play-by-play and public address announcers over the past three years, Ross also played a large role in the office, where he assisted with the creation and scheduling of graphics for social media and helped with other sports information projects. Throughout his time as a student assistant at UCCS, Ross also created and produced the Mountain Lion Chalk Talk podcast and conducted on-camera interviews with student-athletes for the Mountain Lion Spotlight series on social media.
 
During his undergraduate career, Ross also had stints with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, Rocky Mountain Vibes, FOX Sports CFB, and PAC 12 Network. In his position at Switchbacks FC, Ross helped with generating content for the team through the creation of graphics and social media posts, assisted with writing press releases and articles for the club's website and newsletters, and updated weekly game notes for the team that were submitted to the league. He also filled in as the PA announcer for select USL games and Weidner Field events while also occasionally serving as the point of contact for external media and physical assets. Post-grad, Ross has also added time with the Air Force Athletics where he has announced both Volleyball and Women's Basketball for the Falcons. 
 
In his one season with the Rocky Mountain Vibes, Ross was the team's primary public address announcer and had the opportunity to periodically fill in as the club's middle innings broadcaster. He also received experience on the broadcast production side with FOX Sports CFB and the PAC 12 Network, where he served as a utility for both networks, gained experience operating a mobile camera, and assisted with the setup and breakdown of equipment.
