The 2018-19 season marks Sara Kettelkamp’s sixth year with the UCCS women’s cross country program. Kettelkamp, who also assists with the women’s track & field program, specializes in individual strength and conditioning plans for the Mountain Lions, as well as assisting in all program operations.
A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Kettelkamp serves as a strength coach at D1 Sports in Colorado Springs. At D1 Sports, she creates and develops strength and conditioning plans for various age groups and various athletic teams.
A four-year member of the Mountain Lions cross country program, Kettelkamp was voted team captain in 2010-11 and 2011-12, and began to transition into the coaching realm during her senior season.
Kettelkamp was a multi-time RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll selection between cross country and track and field. She competed in the middle distance events in track and field and was a member of the 4x100-meter and distance medley relay teams in her freshman season.
Kettelkamp was a co-author with former Head Women's Cross Country Coach David Harmer on the article "Functional Movement Screening - A tool for identifying functional limitations and asymmetries in female distance runners", which appeared in the August 2014 edition of Techniques.
Kettelkamp is a graduate of the 2018 NCAA Women Coaches Academy class #44 that was held in Denver, Colo. The NCAA Women Coaches Academy, hosted in partnership between the Alliance of Women Coaches and the NCAA, is a four-day educational training available to NCAA coaches of all experience levels, and is designed for women coaches who are ready to increase their individual effectiveness by learning advanced skills and strategies that directly affect their personal and team success.
From Pueblo, Colo., Kettelkamp is a 2013 graduate of UCCS with a Bachelor of Science degree in Strength and Conditioning. She also received her Master of Science degree from UCCS in Health Promotion in 2015.
