Mady Bunnell enters her third season as an assistant coach with the UCCS Softball program for the 2025 season.
Bunnell joined the UCCS Softball coaching staff prior to the 2024 season after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant softball coach at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn. In her role at SMSU, Bunnell initiated fundraising opportunities, alumni connection, and community engagement by implementing camps, tournaments, and off-season training opportunities for the program. She also assisted in skill acquisition, practice planning, and hitting, defense, and catching training in the cages along with planning and coordinating all team travel and lodging.
Prior to her stint with the Mustangs, Bunnell served as a graduate assistant with the softball program at Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., while earning her M.S. in Organizational Management. While she was at Wayne State, Bunnell assisted with hitting and catching training in the cages, recruiting, and organizing, planning, and implementing all practices.
In addition to her experience coaching at the collegiate level, Bunnell has also spent time in the high school and club ranks as she served as the head varsity softball coach at Tri-City United High School in 2020 and spent five years (2014-19) as the head coach of Minnesota Sting Fastpitch, where she developed at least 25 players that advanced to play collegiately at the NCAA Division I or II level.
Bunnell played her collegiate softball at University of Wisconsin River Falls, where she received her B.S. in Business Administration and Finance in July of 2018.
