Jake Anderson

  • Title
Assistant Track & Field Coach (Pole Vault)
The 2024-25 season marks Jake Anderson’s second season as the UCCS pole vault coach.

Anderson joined the Mountain Lion family after closing out a strong five-year career (2018-23) as a track & field student-athlete at University of Missouri Science and Technology this spring. While competing at Missouri S&T, Anderson earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering.

Throughout his time as a member of the Miners' track & field team, Anderson was a perennial contender in the pole vault and long jump at the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) indoor and outdoor track & field championships and made an appearance at the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the pole vault, where he finished 14th overall with a mark of 4.85m. For his career, he posted personal best marks of 5.07m in the pole vault and 7.08m in the long jump while also competing in the multi events on occasion. Anderson also served as a student coach during his time at Missouri S&T as he assisted the head coach with mentoring the team's multi and pole vault athletes. In addition, he was a key part of the Miners' summer and winter camps, leading a one-month pole vault camp in June 2021 that consisted of over ten high school athletes and helping coach five high school student-athletes during the winter of 2020-21.

In addition to competing and coaching at Missouri S&T, Anderson also spent multiple years coaching at the Missouri Pole Vault Academy. From 2019-22, he served as an assistant coach with the organization as he coached high school student-athletes during his holiday breaks and assisted the head coach with drills and demonstrations. Anderson was elevated to the position of head coach of the program in May 2022 and went on to lead a pole vault camp that consisted of more than 20 athletes. As the leader of the summer pole vault camp, he created the schedule for the summer and organized each of the camp sessions in addition to collaborating with two assistant coaches to develop specific goals for each athlete.
