IAAC Minutes - March 14, 2014

The IAAC committee met on March 4, 2014 and the following members present: Al Schoffstall, Mark Janssen, Laura Austin-Eurich, Amy Sutz, Whitney Porter, Emily Jennings Erin Hiltner, Steve Kirkham, Jackie Berning
The minutes from the last meeting were read and approved by Al Schoffstall and seconded by Steve Kirkham. Steve Kirkham and Erin Hiltner gave the Athletic Directors Report. Director Kirkham reported on the great turn-out of the crowd for the end of the season basketball game against Metro State at the Gallogly Event Center on Friday March 1, 2014. He also reminded the committee that the RMAC tournament is to be played in Denver on the Metro State campus. He noted that as of today, 2 booster buses have been reserved to travel to Denver for the RMAC championship. In addition, UCCS student athlete Carson Aberle will represent UCCS Men’s track and field in the 800 m NCAA D-II championship on March 14, 2014. The Athletic Department will be hiring two new staff. One position will be in the area of game day administration and set up and another Athletic Trainer for sports medicine.
Laura Austin-Eurich will be the interim FAR as Mary Ann Kluge has taken leave due to an illness in the family. Laura will with work with the Athletic Department regarding the senior survey
.
The committee also discussed the rotation and the length of terms for members serving on IAAC. The by-laws were reviewed and members were asked to get back to the committee chair with their desire to continue on the committee so new replacements could be contacted towards the end of the semester.
NOTE: Since the committee met, the Men’s Basketball team has a bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament Regional Quarterfinals. The Mountain Lions will be playing Metro State University at their event center in Denver on March 15, 2014 at 6pm. COME AND SUPPORT YOUR MOUNTAIN LIONS
