UCCS Athletics

The IAAC Committee met for the last time this semester on Thursday May 2, 2013. Over the semester the committee has had several updates from coaches, student athletes, student government representatives, faculty and staff. Several items that have been discussed are developing criteria for nominating faculty and staff for the IAAC Coach of the Week. Each athletic team would have the opportunity nominate faculty or staff to join them for a game and thank them for their support. Additionally, the committee discussed the format and timing of offering a symposium for UCCS student athletes, which might involve topics such as time management, leadership and use of social media.

UCCS student athletes continue to maintain higher GPA’s than the nonathlete student body and at the same time they are excelling in their athletic sport. The UCCS Golf team won the 2012-2013 RMAC Champions and several UCCS track and field athletes participated in the RMAC Championship earlier this week and have qualified for the NCAA Division II championship later this month. The Committee will resume meetings starting in the Fall semester 2013.
