GUNNISON, Colo. – The No. 9 University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team defeated the Western Colorado University Mountaineers 8-0 in a high Offensive attack out shooting the Mountaineers 34-6. The Mountain Lions improve to 5-2-1 and (1-1-0) in RMAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountaineers came out firing, with Adah Minikel-Lacocque and Emily Gesick recording back-to-back shots.
- The Mountain Lions quickly responded, as Abby Stassi sent a shot high off the target.
- Brooke Pavlich found the back of the net in the 10th minute to give the Mountain Lions a 1-0 lead. Western Colorado's Natsuki Murakami looked to even the score at the 14-minute mark, but her shot sailed high of the goal.
- The UCCS offense continued to attack, generating six consecutive shots before the 37-minute mark.
- Both teams exchanged shots in the closing minutes of the first half, but UCCS carried its 1-0 advantage into halftime.
- UCCS would end up out shooting Western Colorado 14-4 in the first half.
- UCCS came out strong to begin the second half, scoring back-to-back goals in the 47th and 48th minutes. Malia Groshong opened the scoring early in the half, followed by Taylynn Levi, who found the upper-right corner to extend the Mountain Lions' lead to 3-0.
- Brooke Pavlich soon added her second goal of the match in the 54th minute, pushing the Mountain Lions' advantage to 4-0.
- Western Colorado generated its first scoring opportunity of the second half in the 59th minute, when Jordan Welsh fired a shot that was ultimately blocked.
- Four minutes later, Ally Henry found the back of the net with a low shot to the right, assisted by Charlize Ellsworth, to give the Mountain Lions a commanding 5-0 lead in the 63rd minute.
- The Mountain Lions continued to add to their lead with back-to-back goals from Madison Groshong and Casey Tadlock, who recorded her second goal of the game at 82nd and 84th minute.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- Pavlich led the game with two goals apiece, while Stassi recorded a single game-high three assists.
- Pavlich and Stassi each recorded five shots to lead the game.
- The Mountain Lions outshot the Mountaineers 34-6 and recorded 20 shots on goal.
- UCCS also tallied eight corner kicks throughout the match.
- The Mountain Lions' eight goals tie for third most in program history, last occurring on Sept. 16, 2018 against New Mexico Highlands University.

- Pavlich scored her seventh goal of the season and recorded her second brace of the season, with her other coming against Point Loma Nazarene University on Aug. 27th.
- Lilliana Brinkmeier secured her first career shutout and improved to 2-0 on the season.
- The Mountain Lions had a season high 10 players appear in the match in today's win.
- Both Malia and Madison Groshong netted their first goals of the 2026 campaign.
