Kills from Sydney Hyde, Tompkins and Nicole Himebauch extended the lead to 15-11. Adams State battled back to even the score at 19-19, but Hyde's kill, a block from Himebauch and a service ace from Aubrey Miller put UCCS back in front, 22-20. The Grizzlies rallied again to force extra points. Trailing 26-25, the Mountain Lions responded with a kill from Hyde, followed by an Adams State attack error to take a 27-26 lead. Charlette Albers then connected with Hyde for the set-winning kill, securing a 28-26 victory in the opening frame.
