All-Time Series: The Mountain Lions move to 8-21-5 all-time against the Orediggers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lions found themselves in an early hole as the 2026 RMAC Player of the Year, Bella Campos, netted the first goal of the match in the fourth minute of action. After Mines regained possession on their own side of the field, a deep pass to the right side of the net from Finley Ewald helped Campos beat the UCCS backline for a well-placed shot to the bottom of the far-side post for the 1-0 lead.
- UCCS found its first opportunity in the 14th minute, as Elise Broberg lined up a free kick just outside the top left corner of the CSM box. Broberg would send the ball to the near side for Brooke Pavlich, but the chance was put to an end as the Orediggers' keeper, Emma Thomas, got to the ball first.
- In the 28th minute, the Orediggers were awarded a corner kick which led to a couple of shots by Lindsay Jeans and Campos, but both were blocked as the Mountain Lions narrowly avoided a two-goal deficit.
- Senior midfielder Taylynn Levi would soon get involved, as she ripped the first shot on goal for UCCS in the 34th minute. Levi's shot was ultimately saved and kicked out before Charlize Ellsworth could get the next touch.
- The Mountain Lions' defense stood tall in the 39th minute, as CSM once again had multiple opportunities to extend the lead. Campos once again took a strong shot from the right side of the net, but a diving save by freshman keeper Lucy Kapranos went back out to CSM's Bella Torres, whose shot was also stopped. UCCS would hold the score at 1-0 in favor of the Orediggers heading into halftime.
- Looking to get the offense going in the second half, UCCS possessed the ball for the majority of the first 10 minutes but were unable to net a goal.
- Pavlich found an opportunity in the 64th minute, as she had the ball at the top of the box, and tried to sneak it to Abby Stassi with no defenders in front of her, but Mines was able to clear it and hold the score.
- CSM's best opportunity since the start of the second half came off a header by Ewald in the 68th minute that was sent over the UCCS net, as she was unable to convert a well-placed cross.
- With 14 minutes to go, Stassi found an opportunity as she took two shots from the right side of the CSM's goal, but a wall of Orediggers blocked both chances. A few minutes later, Pavlich took her second shot of the night from the top of the box, but it would be blocked again as Mines continued to stifle the Mountain Lions' offensive chances. Less than 30 seconds later, Pavlich was taken down in the box, but to the Mountain Lions' dismay, no foul was called and the leading goal scorer for UCCS had to come off the field for a head injury.
- The best opportunity of the night for the black and gold came in the 80th minute when Levi took an open shot towards the top left corner of the CSM goal. A leaping save by Thomas for her third of the night held off the Mountain Lions as the score stayed at 1-0.
- The final chance for UCCS came on a deep shot by Stassi, but it was sent wide right as the Mountain Lions fell 0-1 in the RMAC Semifinal.
