HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first fifteen minutes of the match was quiet, with Regis and UCCS owning one shot apiece. Possession was even between both teams. Starting at the 24th minute, Regis began their offensive quest when Liam Corr lofted a ball into the box to Blaise Richard, whose volley was saved by Hugo Sjöberg. From that moment on, Regis dominated possession and offensive chances, notching seven corners and shots in the first half, forcing three saves from Sjöberg.
- The Mountain Lions came out of the break with renewed energy, recording three shots in the first fifteen minutes. The Rangers played a dangerous through ball to Michael Ajagbe which was cleanly tackled to Sjöberg by Olly Reynolds at the 57th minute. At the 75th minute, Sjöberg continued his tremendous play with an outstanding save on Jacob Betancourt-Tovar's shot from five yards out. The proceeding corner was whipped in by Corr and shot by Betancourt-Tovar, but Sean Belzer came up with a goal-line clearance to keep the Rangers scoreless
- Five minutes later, Belzer scored the game-winning goal after Toby Benitez received the ball from Diego Macias, powered into the box and slipped Belzer through to bury the ball into the bottom right corner. Following Belzer's goal, Regis went on an all-out attack, sending cross after cross into their attacking third. However, Sjöberg and the Mountain Lion backline showed their defensive fortitude, icing a 1-0 win for UCCS.
