Records: UCCS (4-1-1, 0-0-0 RMAC), Humboldt (1-3-2, 0-0-0 GNAC)
Facility: Mountain Lion Stadium | Colorado Springs, Colo.
All-Time Series: Saturday afternoon's matchup against the Lumberjacks was the first in UCCS program history. UCCS is now 1-0-0 in the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After an intense battle for possession in the first five minutes, UCCS was able to record their first shot of the match, which sailed just inches over the crossbar and successfully put the Lumberjacks on the defense. The Mountain Lions remained in control for the next ten minutes, logging four shots and two corner kicks.
  • Humboldt was able to turn their luck around and gain their first opportunity to score in the 16th minute, as Lumberjack midfielder Karsyn Ross beat a UCCS defender just outside the 18-yard-box and ripped a shot towards the top left corner of the net. Mountain Lion goalkeeper Nylah Mirshafiei made a diving save, but it was unnecessary as the ball went wide of the frame and out of bounds.
  • UCCS forward Abby Stassi drew a foul near the 10-yard-line on the right side of the field, after two Humboldt defenders double-teamed her and made a dangerous tackle. The free kick, taken by Malia Groshong, went towards the top of the box and connected with Taylynn Levi, who took a shot on goal but was blocked by a Lumberjack defender.
  • The match remained scoreless until Stassi passed the ball to unmarked Brooke Pavlich, who went on to beat the Humboldt goalkeeper Izzy Boudreaux 1-on-1 and launched a shot over her head. UCCS now leads by one in the 22nd minute.
  • Just minutes before the halftime whistle, Pavlich scored her second goal of the match off a corner kick taken by Elise Broberg. The Lumberjacks now trail by two.
  • Despite UCCS possessing the ball well in the midfield area, Humboldt came out swinging from the halftime break and recorded two shots on goal within the first five minutes of the second half.
  • In the 73rd minute, UCCS drew a free kick in Lumberjack defensive territory. After the ball was kicked towards the goal line, it was blocked by Humboldt defenders and bounced back out to Casey Tadlock, who buried the ball into the top right corner of the goal. The Mountain Lions finished the match three goals ahead of the Lumberjacks.
