HOW IT HAPPENED VS. JAMESTOWN
  • The Mountain Lions struggled in the first set as Jamestown took a quick 6-3 lead and never let up. UCCS continued to hang around but never overtook the Jimmies. UJ eventually crossed the 20-point threshold and ran away with set one 25-20.
  • UCCS bounced back mightily in set two, taking a quick 4-3 lead with an early kill, as well as an ace, from Nicole Martin. The next six points would go in the Mountain Lions' favor as Sydney Hyde tallied two kills, with junior Sydnee Walker notching one of her own in the process. From there, UCCS continued to press on as Martin led the charge with a second set hitting percentage of .800 to claim a 25-13 victory.
  • The Mountain Lions would once again jump ahead early, claiming an 8-4 lead through the first 12 points. UCCS would continue to score, but the Jimmies managed to take an 18-17 soon after. The teams would keep fighting to take the lead in the match, but a UJ attack error followed by a kill from Payton Tompkins claimed the set for the Mountain Lions, ending with a score of 26-24.
  • UCCS once again found themselves down early in the fourth set as Jamestown would not go down without a fight. The Mountain Lions would jump back on top as they took a 10-9 lead on a UJ service error and went on a 15-6 run to end the fourth set at 25-15 to claim their seventh victory of the season.
