COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball ends the season on a high note, scoring 96 in a comfortable victory over New Mexico Highlands University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lions got things started with a three-pointer from big man Jesse Iweze but came up empty on the next few possessions to allow the Cowboys to move in front 6-3 off of three straight baskets. The two sides continues to trade baskets in the opening ten minutes, with six total lead changes over that stretch. UCCS was able to pull away as the half way mark of the first elapsed, leading 22-18 with 9:24 to play.
- As the rest of the first half ticked away, UCCS kept up their heightened pace outscoring the Cowboys 28-21 over that final 9:24 of first half action. During that stretch, UCCS hit 9-14 from the field including 2-3 from the field. Jayden Washington dropped nine across the run, with David Jabedo scoring eight.
- As the second half got going, UCCS' offense showed no sign of slowing. The Mountain Lions outscored the opposition 48-41, led by 13 second half points from Jesse Iweze, and 10 second half points from Xavier Martinez. The Mountain Lions hit 16-35 from the field, 6-14 from beyond the arc, and 10-12 from the charity stripe to secure a win in their final game of the year, defeating NMHU 96-80.
GAME STATISTICS
- Jesse Iweze (19), Xavier Martinez (18), Mac Stodart (15), Jayden Washington (14), and David Jabedo (10) all scored double digit marks for UCCS.
- Both teams scored 46 points in the paint this evening, with UCCS' bench shining for 38 points over NMHU's 23 points from the bench.
- UCCS' biggest lead of the game came with ten minutes left to play, holding a 21 point advantage at that time.
