SPEARFISH, S.D. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team can't keep pace with Black Hills State University in the second half, suffering a 82-73 road defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening ten minutes of the contest Black Hills was all over the floor, grabbing four steals and outscoring the Mountain Lions 17-11. The big advantage came from beyond the arc, as the Yellow Jackets buried three of their ten downtown shots, as UCCS just hit one of their seven tries for three.
- UCCS made up ground as halftime closed in, with UCCS outscoring the Jackets 26-23. Mac Stodart and the rest of the Mountain Lions bench played a big part in the effort, scoring 13 points for UCCS ahead to the intermission. Black Hills was able to hold off the Mountain Lions march, taking a three-point 40-37 lead into the second half.
- As the second half got underway, the Yellow Jackets scored the opening bucket to take a five-point lead, and despite the Mountain Lions best efforts, wouldn't look back. Black Hills never lead by less than five points in the remainder of the contest, leading by as much as 13. Black Hills grabbed the home court victory by a 82-73 final.
GAME STATISTICS
- Second chance points were hard to come by in Spearfish, with both teams combining for just seven points.
- UCCS bench players did their job as they scored 24 for the Mountain Lions, outscoring the Jackets bench by 9.
- Xavier Martinez and Jesse Iweze led the offense for UCCS, scoring 15 and 14, respectively.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- UCCS has now been held under 75 points for two straight games.
- With the loss, UCCS still sits tied for eighth in the RMAC with South Dakota Mines, currently on the outside looking into the conference tournament field due to tiebreakers.
