CSM came out of the break on a 7-1 run, taking an 18-16 lead and forcing the Mountain Lions to take a timeout. The Orediggers tallied two consecutive service aces out of the timeout. They followed with three more kills, taking a 23-18 lead late in set one. UCCS collected three more points but dropped the opening set 25-21. Despite having a better hit percentage than CSM in set one (.162-.061), the Mountain Lion's service errors (four) and attack errors (eight) restricted them from starting the match on top.

Up 19-8, UCCS scored five straight points off of kills from Tompkins, Avery Ahlers, and Emily Pruitt to take a commanding 24-8 lead. Audrey Dowd would connect with Tompkins, who threw it down with a big swing, evening the sets one piece with a 25-9 win in set two. The Mountain Lions cleaned up their errors from set one, only committing one service error and one attack error in set two. UCCS had a hit percentage of .500 compared to the Orediggers, who had a -.071.
- CSM responded to the defeat in set two and opened to a 21-15 lead in set three. The Orediggers remained in control the rest of the set and would take a 2-1 advantage, winning set three 25-19. Like the previous sets before it, the side with more errors would drop the set. The Mountain Lions had nine attack errors and two service errors as opposed to CSM, which had only six attack errors and one service error in set three.
- Set four saw UCCS respond and gain a 15-11 lead, but CSM immediately would burst to a 6-1 run to take a 17-16 lead. The Mountain Lions and Orediggers traded leads until UCCS scored three straight, with two kills coming from Pruitt to take a 24-22 lead. CSM refused to allow the match to reach a fifth set as they replied with four straight kills, winning set four 26-24 and the match 3-1.
