HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lions struggled on the offensive side of the ball in the first half of Thursday night's matchup, tallying only five total shots with zero being on goal. Much like UCCS, the Skyhawks could not find the back of the net until the 43rd minute when FLC's Anton Hjalmarsson beat two UCCS defenders to create an open look in the middle of the field to record the first score of the match into the bottom right of the Mountain Lions' goal.
- Much like the first 45 minutes of action, the offensive woes continued for UCCS while the Skyhawks added two more goals to their total. The first was on a penalty kick from Thomas Kirkham in the 58th minute into the top right corner of the net after a foul committed by graduate defender Adin Schwenke on FLC's David Citron. The Skyhawks third and final goal of the match came from Tomas Duenes Gonzalez in the 65th minute as he found the bottom right corner to extend the lead.
- Despite their challenges offensively, the Mountain Lions avoided their second shutout of the season in the 80th minute thanks to senior midfielder Dani Barajas who recorded his seventh goal of the season into the bottom right corner off the assist of Gael Hernandez which would be the final goal of the match.
STATS FROM THE GAME
