COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After a five-game road stretch, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team returned home to post a convincing 19-point win over Western Colorado University Saturday afternoon inside the Gallogly Events Center. The 47 points allowed by UCCS are the second fewest scored on the Mountain Lions this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams had a quiet opening period with the Mountaineers holding a slight 11-10 lead over UCCS behind Amyah Moore Allen's four points and Emily Vidal's trey that accounted for seven of UCCS' first 10 points of the day.
- The Mountain Lions broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring the crimson and black, 23-7. Maison White's jumper broke a 12-12 tie and spurred a 17-0 run that featured 10 points by White. UCCS hit on 7-of-11 field goals and 3-of-4 free throws during the rally while the defense held WCU to 0-of-5 field goals and forced the Mountaineers to commit seven turnovers during the run that lasted nearly seven minutes. Briana Knabe found White with 2:25 left in the first half to cap off the 17-point run and give UCCS their largest lead of the game, 29-12.
- UCCS kept a double-digit lead over Western Colorado in the second half. The closest the Mountaineers would reach UCCS was 10 points, but a dominant defensive performance that led to nine WCU turnovers in the final 20 minutes and a strong offensive output (33 second half points) resulted in the Mountain Lions eighth win of the season and fifth victory in league games.
GAME STATISTICS
- The duo of White and Rylie Ottmann paced the Mountain Lions with double digit points. White's 7-of-11 field goals and two made free throws earned her a team high 16 points as Ottmann notched 12 points.
- Krystina Hagood pulled down a team high five rebounds and added three points, a steal and an assist.
- Jessica Nation led all bench players with seven points to go with her three rebounds.
- UCCS netted 41.4 percent from the floor (24-of-58) and 4-of-11 from three-point range (36.4 percent), while sinking 14-20 free throws for a solid 70 percent.
- The Mountain Lions outscored the Mountaineers off of turnovers (9-8), in the paint (34-14), on the fast break (6-0) and from the bench (25-2).
- UCCS forced WCU into 22 turnovers while the home team committed only nine.
- Western was led by Rachel Cockman's and Jayda Maves' 17 points.
- WCU was held to 30.2 field goal percentage but made 16-of-22 from the line (72.7 percent).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Knabe scored a career high four points while Breelyn Robinson dished out a career high four dimes.
- Moore Allen's 14 field goal attempts are the most by a Mountain Lion in 2023-24.
- UCCS' 70.0 percent free throw percentage marks their best from the line this season, while the nine turnovers are the fewest.
