COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team found their offensive groove, blasting past Western Colorado University 83-60 at home.

- All-Time Series: The Mountain Lions and Mountaineers faced off for the 47th time on Saturday afternoon. UCCS holds a 29-18 record over Western Colorado after this weekend's win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lion offense had pace from the tipoff Saturday afternoon, seeing freshman point man Xavier Martinez hit a triple just 18 seconds into the contest, giving UCCS a lead which they would never relinquish.
- The Mountain Lions shared the ball, embarked on a 14-7 run in the opening ten minutes of action, behind points from six different players all of whom scored two points, apart from Martinez who hit the opening three.
- UCCS held a 41-22 lead as the buzzer sounded for halftime, and nine UCCS shooters were featured on the scoresheet from the first 20 minutes, led by Jesse Iweze with 10.
- The black and gold picked up right where they left of when play resumed in the final half, with UCCS claiming a 15-6 run in the opening five minutes back from the break. In just his second game of the season, Jayden Washington led the early effort in the second, scoring seven of the first 15 UCCS points in the half.
- The final ten minutes were slowed by frequent whistles, seeing both teams hit the bonus with over seven minutes to play, but UCCS continued to build their lead, going up by as much as thirty over the Mountaineers.
- The Mountain Lions, who came in on a three-game slide, broke their drought and grabbed the home win by an 83-60 final.
GAME STATISTICS
- UCCS saw nine of eleven players score points vs Western Colorado, lead by Jesse Iweze who cashed in 17.
- In just his second game of the season, Sophomore Jayden Washington scored 13 points, proving to add value back in the lineup.
- Five Mountain Lions scored in the double digits on Saturday, those players being, Washington (13), Noah Baca (13), Iweze (17), Mac Stodart (11), and Shareef Jaudon (13).
- Kade Juelfs and Avery Rembao led the Mountaineers offense, each scoring 15.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Coming off a season low game for field goal percentage and three point shooting, UCCS shot 53.5% from the field (2nd highest this season), and 36.8% from beyond the arc (5th highest this season.)
- This marks the third straight game that Jesse Iweze has buried 15+ points. (18 at Chadron State, 28 at Regis, and 17 vs Western Colo.)
- UCCS avoids setting a season high with four straight losses, halting their skid at three games for the second time.

- The Mountain Lions return to Gallogly Events Center on Friday, when they host Fort Lewis College for a 7 p.m. tip off. They then host Adams State on Saturday, with tip off also scheduled for 7 p.m.
