  • Records: UCCS (13-7, 10-4 RMAC) | CCU (10-9, 6-7 RMAC)
  • Facility | Location: Gallogly Events Center | Colorado Springs, Colo.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Mountain Lions opened Saturday night's match in control as Briana Knabe got them started with a three-pointer off an assist from Rylie Ottmann. UCCS opened the first four minutes of the game on a 10-3 run where Amyah Moore Allen notched seven of her 21 points in these minutes.
  • Moore Allen would add four more points in the remainder of the quarter as she cut through the lane to free herself up for a pair of scooping layups, but CCU managed to keep the game within striking distance. Each team would finish on an even 10-10 run in the final five minutes causing UCCS to preserve a 20-13 lead heading into the second frame.
  • Ottmann and Jessica Nation got the Mountain Lions a pair of jumpers to open the quarter, but the Cougars would respond on a 7-0 run to pull their deficit to just four (24-20) with 6:28 to go before half. This run provided the momentum that CCU was looking for as they found themselves with a 30-29 lead a little over three minutes later.
  • UCCS responded rapidly as Knabe would take the lead back with a crafty move to the rim which was then followed by Ottmann splashing her third three of the first half. The Mountain Lions finished strong and would carry a 37-32 lead into the break.
  • UCCS' massive second half started right away as they increased their lead to 12 in the first three and a half minutes of the third quarter after Ottmann sank her fourth three on her fourth attempt of the game. Maison White got herself going in the third quarter as eight of her 10 points and five of her 14 boards were tallied in the third frame. The Mountain Lions would command a 63-51 lead going into the fourth.
  • UCCS exploded to start the fourth as they increased their lead to 21 points following a Moore Allen steal and transition lay-in at the 6:34 mark. This proved to be too much to handle for the Cougars as they never got within 18 points the rest of the night. This huge second half resulted in UCCS enjoying a 28-point victory with a final score of 90-62.
