COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced their All-South Central Region softball teams on Tuesday, May 16, with
Courtnie Heller of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team earning a nod as the second team designated player.
Colorado Christian University's Kenzie Middleton was voted as the region's Player of the Year, while University of Texas Tyler's Tatum Goff brought home regional Pitcher of the Year honors. UT Tyler and West Texas A&M University led the way with five total all-region selections, while Colorado Christian and Metropolitan State University Denver each wrapped up four total selections.
The D2CCA All-South Central Region Teams and Regional Players of the Year were nominated and voted on by the Sports Information Directors from the Lone Star Conference (LSC) and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
A Second Team All-RMAC selection for the 2023 season, Heller makes her first career appearance on the D2CCA All-South Central Region Team as a second team designated player. A starter in each of the team's 51 games this season, Heller went on to lead the Mountain Lions with her .306 batting average, .462 on base percentage, and .974 OPS while also drawing a team-high 28 walks and striking out just 11 times. Heller's eye in the batter's box proved to be one of the best in the RMAC, as she finished the regular season ranked fourth in the conference for walks and tied for fourth in OBP. She also continued to exhibit her ability to drive in runs from the middle of the order as she ended the year second on the team with 32 RBIs while also adding 37 hits, seven doubles, and six home runs. A native of Thornton, Colo., Heller finishes her career at UCCS with an impressive .300 batting average and .455 on base percentage while totaling 11 doubles, 13 home runs, and 56 RBIs across more than 310 plate appearances.
