HOW IT HAPPENED
- Friday night's action began with Rylie Ottmann finding Maison White for an easy look at the rim followed up by a three-pointer from Emily Vidal assisted by Krystina Hagood putting UCCS up 5-0 to start things off. The Mountain Lions would go up as much as six points in the quarter, but the Hardrockers would close out the opening frame strong as they were only down 17-15 heading into the second quarter.
- This two-point lead was the closest that SDSM would keep the game as UCCS opened the second quarter going on a 10-2 run that included Breelyn Robinson hitting her first of five three-pointers made tonight. The last seven minutes of the first half would see the Mountain Lions being even more dominant as they outscored the Hardrockers 14-5, giving them a 41-22 lead going into the break.
- UCCS' hot night carried over into the second half as Ottmann started the Mountain Lions back half with a three-pointer assisted by Sydney Nilles. UCCS' defense didn't allow SDSM to score for the first four minutes of the third quarter as they continued to apply pressure on the defensive end. The Mountain Lions would hold a convincing 58-43 lead going into the final frame.
- The fourth quarter saw UCCS' first four scoring possessions ending in three-pointers as Robinson, Mattie Busby, and Emily Doolittle contributed to the 12-0 run to begin the quarter. Robinson would record her 19th and final point of the night after stealing and finishing the bucket on the other end with a nice euro step to place the Mountain Lions up 72-34 with a little under six minutes to go in the game. UCCS would hold on to the massive lead and win with a final score of 80-43.
