HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cameron won the opening jump ball and took a 4-0 lead over the Mountain Lions.  UCCS broke the full court press as Maison White hit a turnaround jumper in the paint to put UCCS on the board followed by a scoop shot from Sydney Nilles to knot the game at 4-4.  Amyah Moore Allen hit the first of two free throws after Cameron regained the lead, 6-4, but Moore Allen's free throw combined with White's jumper in the paint gave the Mountain Lions their first lead of the game, 7-6.  The Aggies answered and quickly regained the lead with a three-pointer on the ensuing possession that sparked an 8-0 run.  The Mountain Lions snapped the scoring spree with a give-and-go pass from White to Mattie Busby to give UCCS their final bucket of the first quarter.
  • Down 18-9 to start the second stanza, the Mountain Lions netted the first six points of the period as Emily Vidal sank one of two free throws followed by a turn around jumper from White.  Vidal added three more points with a successful old-fashioned three-point play to bring UCCS within three points, 18-15.  The Aggies continued to find points under the baskets, holding UCCS to just two field goals in the second quarter.  The Mountain Lions netted eight of their 12 points in the second quarter from the charity stripe.  UCCS headed into the locker room trailing the home team, 35-21.
  • The Aggies lead grew in the second half as they led by as many as 22 points, 47-25, but UCCS fought back and went on a 21-8 run.  UCCS cut the lead down to 10 points, 57-47 on a free throw from Rylie Ottmann in the fourth quarter that was followed by Vidal sinking the first three-pointer of the game for UCCS.  Mya Wilson, who drove the lane and passed a dime for Vidal's three-pointer, grabbed a defensive rebound and went coast-to-coast to bring the Mountain Lions deficit down to nine points, 63-54, but the Aggies utilized the clock and opportunities at the free throw line to take a 10-point win for their first  win of the season.
