  • Records: UCCS (4-9, 3-4 RMAC) | CSC (2-11, 2-5 RMAC)
  • Facility | Location:  Gallogly Events Center | Colorado Springs, Colo.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Haneborg drew a foul just 21 seconds into the game and drained both free throws to give the Mountain Lions a quick 2-0 lead, followed by a turnaround jumper from White two minutes, giving UCCS a 4-0 lead.  The Eagles responded with a 9-2 run as they went 4-for-4 from the floor to snag their first lead of the afternoon, 9-6.  Breelyn Robinson got in on the action and drilled back-to-back jumpers, the second of which came from her steal as she went coast-to-coast, boosting UCCS back on top, 12-11.  The Mountain Lions, who never trailed by more than three points, kept the lead the rest of the game after their strong first quarter start, shooting a solid 43.8 percent from the floor (7-of-16) and 75 percent from the free throw line (6-of-8).
  • The momentum continued into the second stanza as the home team put 17 on the scoreboard while holding CSC to 10 points. The Mountain Lions opened the second quarter on an 11-0 run in the first five minutes behind Sydney Nilles' five points.  With three minutes left in the half, Jessica Nation netted two buckets combined with Rylie Ottmann's two free throws to increase the Mountain Lions lead to 16-points, 37-21.  The Eagles Kyra Tanabe ended the quarter sinking two straight field goals, but the Mountain Lions took a 37-26 lead into the locker room.
  • The Eagles came out of the intermission and tested the Mountain Lions.  Despite both teams putting 20 on the board in the third quarter, CSC went on an 8-0 late in the third quarter, cutting the Mountain Lions lead down to nine before Nilles connected with Haneborg for a layup with four seconds left in the quarter.
  • Starting the final stanza with an 11-point lead, 76-57, the Eagles' Awoti Akoi sank a three-pointer but was answered by White's jumper on the Mountain Lions next trip down the court.  Almost two minutes and seven possessions later from both teams, Ottmann drained a three-pointer to snap the two-minute scoring drought with 6:51 left in regulation.  The Eagles continued to claw into the Mountain Lions lead, using a span of two minutes and 18 seconds to hold UCCS to just one free throw while putting nine points in the scorebook, including 5-of-5 in free throws.  Forced to foul, the Eagles committed five fouls in the final 30 seconds as UCCS sank 3-of-5 free throws to seal the win, 72-66.
