COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior
Declan Domyan of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team has been announced as this week's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Goalkeeper of the Week after posting yet another strong performance in frame for the Mountain Lions last week.
The RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week honor is the first of Domyan's career and marks the second consecutive week that a UCCS men's soccer student-athlete has been recognized for a weekly conference award.
A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Domyan was once again stellar in frame last week for the Mountain Lions as he allowed just one goal in 180 minutes of action to help UCCS get out to a strong 1-0-1 record to begin conference play. In the Mountain Lions conference opening 3-0 win against Westminster College on Friday evening, Domyan recorded three saves to secure his league-leading sixth clean sheet of the season, which moved him into a tie for the eighth most career shutouts and the fifth-most single season shutouts in UCCS program history. Domyan continued his excellent form on Sunday in a 1-1 tie against Colorado Mesa, surrendering just one goal in 90 minutes of action against a potent Mavericks offense.
The junior goalkeeper has been a dominant force in frame for UCCS the entire season, ranking tied for the most shutouts in all of NCAA Division II with six on the season. In addition, Domyan sits seventh in the nation with his RMAC-leading 0.31 GAA and .900 save percentage across just over 870 minutes on the pitch.
Domyan and the Mountain Lions are set to continue their RMAC schedule this week with a pair of home games as they welcome Regis University to Mountain Lion Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Thursday, Sept. 29, before hosting South Dakota School of Mines on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m.
