COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A tight first half between the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions women's basketball team and Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets, turned into a thrilling finish with UCCS coming up just short, 55-52.

th meeting all-time between the Mountain Lions and Yellow Jackets. UCCS leads the all-time series 11-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game started with four quick points from Jasmine Jeffcoat for the Mountain Lions, however, Black Hills State kept things close as the score continued to go back and forth. Jeffcoat and Gracie Haneborg led the way in the first with four points each. UCCS ended the quarter with a tight 16-14 lead.
- It was more of the same as UCCS and BHSU traded baskets. UCCS tried to pull away with a 7-2 run, however Black Hills State countered with their 8-2 run to bring the game within one and get to the halftime score of 25-24 with the Mountain Lions on top.
- Momentum switched for Black Hills State as they got the lead and took control of the quarter. BHSU forward Haylee Weathersby took control putting up nine points in the quarter for the Yellow Jackets. Jeffcoat continued her impressive night putting up five more points to try and counter. Black Hills State took the lead 41-35 at the end of the quarter.
- The closing frame was a thriller. UCCS battled back going on a 10-4 scoring run to bring the game within three after trailing by as many as nine points. As UCCS tried to push Black Hills State counter punched. The Mountain Lions cut the lead to one, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- Jeffcoat and Haneborg tied for the team lead with 12 points, including three straight from them to bring the game to within one in the fourth quarter.
- Jeffcoat had the team high in rebounds with six.
- UCCS out-rebounded BHSU 28-19.
- UCCS and BHSU shot the same 36.8 percent from the field, the difference came at the three-point line where UCCS shot 9% and BHSU shot 36%.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- This was the fifth time Jeffcoat led the team in rebounds.
- Haneborg led the team in scoring for the third time this season while Jeffcoat led for the sixth time.
- With help from teams around the RMAC, the Mountain Lions stay in ninth place in the RMAC, where they remain a half game behind Adams State University.
