COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UCCS Men's Basketball rained down three-pointers inside Gallogly Events Center on Saturday night as the Mountain Lions surge past Westminster College behind their best three-point shooting performance of the season, 89-59.

Series: UCCS leads the all-time series against Westminster 5-3 with the Mountain Lions winning the last four matchups.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Mountain Lions bounced back in a big way Saturday night as a field-goal percentage of 55.6 resulted in a 14-point lead through the first 20 minutes. UCCS rained down three-pointers with eight made shots from downtown including a string of five consecutive threes that gave UCCS an 18-10 advantage at the 12:46 mark.
• After putting on a three-point clinic the Mountain Lions kept the hot shooting coming by going on a 9-0 run with
Cameron Underwood adding to the long-range performance with a made three as the Mountain Lions jumped out to a 27-14 lead with 9:10 remaining.
• UCCS continued to attack the Griffins on both ends of the floor as four Westminster turnovers turned into eight UCCS points with
William Becker pocketing a quick steal where he found
Alijah Comithier on the other end for an easy lay in to give UCCS a comfortable 41-27 lead heading into halftime.
• Coming out of the locker room, the Mountain Lions turned it up another notch on the Griffins with a 48-point second half that matched the 44.4 percent from beyond the arc in the first half as 41 points were scored from the UCCS bench.
• Westminster struggled to find a rhythm as the UCCS defense forced four turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the half while limiting the Griffins to just 11 team points as
Jon'il Fugett drained two three-pointers to help guide the Mountain Lions to a 20-point lead with 10:06 left to play, 60-40.
• Wyatt Dolberry carried his stellar play into the second half as he scored five of his nine points in the half with his third made three-pointer and layup at 4:22 to register a double-double at 17 points and 10 rebounds to make it 78-51.
• A combined 29 points still came UCCS' way as the Mountain Lions caused five more Westminster turnovers and shot lights out with
Mac Stodart,
Devin Smith, and
Noah Baca all coming off the bench to score three points in the final three minutes to preserve a 30-point win at a 89-59 final.
STATS FROM THE DAY:
• UCCS finished the night shooting 51.7 percent from the field and an impressive 44.4 percent from three-point range after holding the Griffins to a 34.5 field-goal percentage and 23.5 percent three-point percentage.
• UCCS shot 8-of-18 for 44.4 percent in both the first and second half.
• The Mountain Lions held the advantage in boards with 40 total rebounds as they held Westminster to 34 rebounds in the win.
• UCCS committed 11 turnovers but forced 13 as the Mountain Lions capitalized with a stellar 25 points off Westminster turnovers.
• UCCS held the lead for an even 36 minutes in Saturday's win as they held on to a double-digit lead the whole second half.
• Out of the 41 bench points,
Wyatt Dolberry was responsible for 17 points off 6-of-13 from the field, 3-of-8 from three-point, and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line as he notched a double-double with 10 rebounds.
• Shooting an even 50 percent was
Jon'il Fugett as the transfer finished 4-of-8 from the field and 2-of-4 from long range to total 10 points and register a game high six assists.
• Alijah Comithier scored a game high 20 points as the sophomore added six rebounds and four assists to his stat line after shooting 8-of-16 from the field and 3-of-9 from three-point.
• All nine of
Geoff Kelly's points came from beyond the arc as he turned in 3-of-4 from the field with
Cameron Underwood,
Devin Smith, and
Bobby Martin all draining a three in the win.
BEYOND THE BOX:
• The Mountain Lions follow-up their second worst three-point shooting performance with their best of the season after finishing 16-of-36 for 44.4 percent.
• UCCS' 16 made three-pointers is the most in a single game in almost five years when 17 threes were made against Adams State on Jan. 6, 2017.
• Wyatt Dolberry posts his second double-double performance of the season after tying his season high in made three-pointers (three).
• The Mountain Lions hold Westminster to their lowest shooting percentage of the season at 34.5 percent. The Griffins shooting percentage is also the lowest posted inside Gallogly Events Center this season.
• UCCS continues to dominate the boards by out-rebounding every opponent so far this season.
