HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Mountain Lions kicked off the scoring after redshirt senior, Liam McGuire, faced off with an Adams State defenseman in the penalty box. After creating space with the defender, McGuire found the back of the net for the second time this season in the 21st minute of the game.
  • After being in the game for only ten minutes, sophomore midfielder, Alex Andersson, took a shot on goal inside the penalty box that skipped off the foot of an Adams State defender and over the head of the goalkeeper for his first goal of the year. The goal was assisted by McGuire.

STATS FROM THE GAME:
  • UCCS controlled the ball for the majority of the match which allowed them multiple opportunities on the attack. They outshot Adams State 21-4 and did not allow a single shot from the Grizzlies in the first half. Eleven of the Mountain Lion's shots were on goal while the Grizzlies only had one.
  • Luka Cecic took the most shots for the Mountain Lions with six, while Adam Baldwin had the second most shots with three. Jose Zertuche, Adin Schwenke, Bogdan Vedernikov, Liam McGuire, and Alex Andersson all ended up with two shots each.
  • Five Mountain Lions, Nic Grotle, Kaydon Zamora-Reeves, Baldwin, Schwenke, and Vedernikov, played the entire game.
  • Goalkeeper Andreas Kokoska only needed one save to maintain the clean sheet and secure his fourth win of the year.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Alex Andersson picked up right where he left off with a goal in his first game of the season and his first game back from an injury from last season.
  • The Mountain Lions continue to dominate against the Grizzlies when playing at home. UCCS has not lost at home against Adams State with tonight's win marking their tenth victory in as many games at Mountain Lion Stadium.
  • Tonight's shutout by Andreas Kokoska marks his second shutout of the year.
