COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In a hard fought battle tonight, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team suffered their first home loss of the season to Lubbock Christian University, 3-2, inside Gallogly Events Center to close out the 2021 UCCS Mountain Lion Volleyball Classic.
Lauryn Shockley was one of seven players to be named to the 2021 All-Tournament Team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lions snagged a 2-0 lead (25-18, 23-25) before LCU battled back to win the next three sets to take the match, 3-2.
- One night after setting her own career high for most kills in a match, Shockley set another career high with 26 against the Chaps. Sixteen of her match-high 26 kills came in the first two sets as she was near perfect at the net, committing only two errors on 25 attempts to open the match.
- In the fifth and deciding match, Shockley tied the set at 12-12 on a kill from Abbie Boren's assist. Two straight kills by LCU gave them match point, 14-12, but Grace Ferguson put down a kill to keep the match within reach, 14-13. LCU battled for their final point of night as Jalee Sims assisted Hannah Froeschl for the game-winning point.
MATCH STATISTICS
- UCCS came out on fire in the first set, hitting .457 with 17 kills on 35 attempts and only one error.
- The Mountain Lions tallied 33 kills in the first two sets but were held to 28 in the final three. Conversely, the Chaps tallied 37 kills in their final three sets after starting the match with 21.
- Abbie Boren accounted for 16 of the Mountain Lions 17 assists in the opening set and finished the match with 54.
- Hannah Ammerman registered a double-double with 12 kills and 10 assists. Jordyn Kinsey dug up a team high 19 attacks, while Shockley and Camden Strain combined for 21.
- The Chaps were led by Froeschl's 20 kills.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Shockley was named to the 2021 UCCS Mountain Lion All-Tournament Team. In three matches, she tallied 65 kills (4.64 kills per set), hit .308 and added 37 digs.

UP NEXT
- UCCS will open the 2021 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at Colorado State Pueblo. They will return home on Friday, Sept. 17 against Regis University at 7 p.m. in the annual White Out Night. The first 300 UCCS students to the match will receive a free White Out t-shirt.
