HOW IT HAPPENED:

• At 30:44 the first goal was scored in the match as an MSU Denver yellow card gave Alex Andersson a penalty kick opportunity in which he delivered on for his third goal of the season and a 1-0 UCCS lead.
• Shortly after the Mountain Lions broke the scoreless tie, the UCCS backline and goalkeeper Andreas Kokoška kept the Roadrunners in check after an MSU Denver corner kick led to two shots and one shot on goal which were kept out of net to maintain the UCCS lead.
• After the strong defensive stop, the Mountain Lions quickly flipped the field on the Roadrunners as an Andersson corner kick was fed to Nic Grotle who found Liam McGuire for  the double assist goal in the left side of the net, bringing the UCCS lead to 2-0 in the 34th minute.
• Before the first half came to a close, MSU Denver provided scoring of their own as the Roadrunners took advantage of a UCCS yellow card in the 44th minute. Off the free kick, the Roadrunners redirected a shot into the left corner of the goal to cut the Mountain Lions' deficit in half and head into halftime.
• With the lead in hand the Mountain Lions leaned on their defense who rose to the occasion and shutout the Roadrunners in the second half. A total of seven shots came UCCS' way as Kokoška bagged two saves to hold the advantage and walk away with the 2-1 win in downtown Denver, Colo.
