UCCS Falls in Exhibition Game at Wyoming, 66-39

LARAMIE, WYO. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team competed in their final exhibition game Friday night at the University of Wyoming.  A cold shooting night by the Mountain Lions resulted in a 66-39 setback.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP
  • Final: UCCS 39, University of Wyoming 66
  • Record: UCCS (0-0, 0-0 RMAC), Wyoming (0-0, 0-0 MWC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • For UCCS, it was a cold shooting night from the jump. They shot just 24 percent in the first half and improved to 29 percent in the second half. Inés Latapia impressed in the first quarter scoring five of her seven points and bringing energy off the bench.
  • The defense for UCCS settled in after a challenging first quarter allowing Wyoming to shoot just 30 percent from the field the rest of the game.
 
STATS FROM THE GAME
  • UCCS shot 17-of-64 (26.6 percent) from the floor and 1-of-18 (5.6 percent) from three-point range. Wyoming out-rebounded UCCS 47-40 and won the turnover battle 15-11.
  • Sophie Abela led all UCCS scores with nine points
  • Latapia splashed 3-of-6 from the field including the team's only three point field goal of the game.
  • Jasmine Jeffcoat was a terror on defense racking up six rebounds (three defensive), two steals, and a blocked shot.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Mountain Lions will open up the regular season on the road against Midwestern State University on Friday, Nov. 12 at 4:30 p.m. (MT), followed by a road game at Cameron University on Nov. 13 at 4:30 p.m. (MT).
