Mountain Lions Hold Hardrockers Scoreless in 1-0 Victory

Box Score RAPID CITY, S.D. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team recorded their third clean sheet of the season as they defeated South Dakota School of Mines, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at SDSMT Sioux Park Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:      
  • After a scoreless start to the match, the Mountain Lions broke onto the board first in the 37th minute when junior Kolby Raineri sent a gorgeous cross to Luka Cecic who finished for the goal.
  • The Hardrockers would put pressure on the UCCS defense in the second half, putting five shots on goal, but Mountain Lion's goalkeeper Andreas Kokoska clamped down to hold SD Mines scoreless and secure a 1-0 conference win.
 
STATS FROM THE GAME:
  • The Mountain Lions held the advantage over the Hardrockers in shots (15-11), shots on goal (7-6), and corner kicks (11-7).
  • Midfielder Luka Cecic recorded his third goal of the season while Kolby Raineri registered his third assist of the campaign.
  • Goalkeeper Andreas Kokoska recorded his third clean sheet of the season as he logged six saves and played the entire 90 minutes in goal.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The game-winning goal for Cecic was his third of the season, putting him in a four-way tie for the RMAC lead.

  • UCCS returns home to Mountain Lion Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. as they match up with Adams State.
