COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs cross country programs will host the first NCAA Division II cross country races of the season on Friday, Sept. 4, and the first collegiate sporting event in Colorado since this past March. The Mountain Lions will be holding the 13
th annual UCCS Rust Buster at Monument Valley Park in a dual meet against the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks. The women's 5K race will kick off the Rust Buster at 6 p.m., followed by the men's 8K race at 6:40 p.m.
Located near Colorado College, Monument Valley Park is operated by the City of Colorado Springs. All guidelines regarding COVID-19 set forth by the City of Colorado Springs will be implemented during Friday's race, as well as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference COVID-19 safety protocols. Spectators at the races are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings and social distance at least six feet from each other.
The Mountain Lions will be back in action for their second meet of the season when they host the UCCS Cross Country Open on Friday, Sept. 18 at Cherokee Ridge Golf Course.
