ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball program has been named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the third straight year.  The Mountain Lions finished the academic year with a 3.646 GPA, ranking them 23rd in NCAA Division II.

"It's such a pleasure to be coaching student-athletes who are equally committed to their academic efforts as they are to their athletic endeavors," said UCCS head women's basketball coach Lynn Plett.  "We have a group of young women in our basketball program who have demonstrated the self-discipline and time management needed to successfully balance the academic and athletic demands placed on collegiate athletes.  To be recognized by the WBCA as one of the top 25 academic teams for the third consecutive year is a tremendous accomplishment for the players on our basketball team."

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.

In early February, nine Mountain Lions earned 2019-20 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic accolades.  Abby Feickert (3.984 GPA, Exercise Science) was voted to the First Team while Caley Barnard (3.888 GPA, Biology), Anna Davern (4.000 GPA, Biology), Maddie Golla (3.745 GPA, Biology), Elly Johnson (3.980 GPA, English), Kaity Hovasse (3.557 GPA, Mathematics), Chelsea Pearson (3.795 GPA, Business), Bo Shaffer (3.730 GPA, Biochemistry) and Tatum Tellin (3.736 GPA, Anthropology) received the Honor Roll distinction.

UCCS is the only institution from the RMAC to be ranked in the WBCA NCAA Division II Academic Top 25. Seton Hill, coached by Mark Katarski, led NCAA Division II members with a 3.831 GPA.
