Lacrosse Wins Third Straight Home Game

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team recorded their third straight home win Thursday afternoon, defeating Ashland University 24-17 at Mountain Lion Stadium.  The win improves UCCS to 3-3 as they close out the non-conference portion of their season.

UCCS never trailed in the game and led by as many as nine goals at three different times during the contest.

Audrey Napp and Vanessa Nelson each recorded a hat trick for the Mountain Lions.  Natalie Church led the offense with five points behind two goals and three assists.  Alison Kobel attempted a team high eight shots followed by Napp's six shot attempts.

Church and Holly Sodomka combined to win 16 of the Mountain Lions 25 draw controls.  Church won nine draw controls and added three ground balls.

Madison McGriff won her first decision in goal, making eight saves and allowing eight goals in the first 30 minutes of action.  Kennedy Travis played the final 30 minutes stopping seven shots on goal.

Ashland (2-4) was led by Sofia Michael who tallied a game high nine goals and 10 points.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has suspended all spring championship and non-championship competitions and travel through April 6 as a result of the rapidly developing information and decisions related to COVID-19.  The earliest the Mountain Lions will be back on the field is April 9 and April 11 at Fort Lewis College and Adams State University, respectively.
