Mountain Lions Drain Three-Pointers in 23-Point Win at MSU Denver

DENVER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team drained 11 three-pointers Friday night on their way to a 23-point win at MSU Denver, 70-47.  The 47 points are the fewest points allowed by UCCS this season, and the fewest the Roadrunners have scored in 2019-20.
 
With tonight's win, UCCS improves to 14-7 overall and 10-6 in league games.  The Roadrunners drop to 10-12 (6-10 RMAC).
 
The Mountain Lions used a strong shooting start and a 14-1 run to take a 33-19 lead at halftime.  UCCS shot 43.8 percent from the floor in the first half (14-of-32), while sinking five three-pointers.  The second half proved stronger for the Mountain Lions as they made 47.8 percent from the floor (11-of-23) and 50 percent from behind the arc (6-12).  After not shooting any free throws in the first half, UCCS made 9-of-10 in the second half to help seal the win.
 
Blend Avdili scored a game high 22 points.  He netted 18 of his points from three-point range and accounted for over half of the Mountain Lions 11 treys (6-for-11). 
 
Padiet Wang chipped in 10 points, six rebounds, three steals and dished out a game high six assists. William Becker came off the bench to pull in a game high 10 rebounds to go with his six points, assist and steal.  Parker Gaddis was solid from the floor, making 3-of-5 field goals for seven points while snagging eight rebounds.
 
For the game, UCCS shot 45.5 percent from the floor (25-of-55) and 44 percent from long range (11-of-25).
 
The Mountain Lions dominated the boards, outrebounding the Roadrunners by 20 (45-25).  UCCS tallied nine points off of second chance opportunities (11 offensive rebounds) and scored 16 points off of MSU Denver's 15 turnovers.
 
The Roadrunners were led by Maris Colton's 12 points (seven free throws).  MSUD made 32 percent from the floor (16-of-50) and 25 percent from downtown (4-of-16).
 
UCCS will take on Chadron State College Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
