COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nine student-athletes from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball program earned 2019-20 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic accolades, announced today by the league office.
Abby Feickert (3.984 GPA, Exercise Science) was voted to the First Team while
Caley Barnard (3.888 GPA, Biology),
Anna Davern (4.000 GPA, Biology),
Maddie Golla (3.745 GPA, Biology),
Elly Johnson (3.980 GPA, English),
Kaity Hovasse (3.557 GPA, Mathematics),
Chelsea Pearson (3.795 GPA, Business),
Bo Shaffer (3.730 GPA, Biochemistry) and
Tatum Tellin (3.736 GPA, Anthropology) received the Honor Roll distinction.
Colorado School of Mines' Denali Pinto has been named the 2019-20 Women's Basketball Academic Player of the Year. Pinto, along with the other First Team All-Academic members, were voted on by the conference's sports information directors. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters.
From Flower Mound, Texas, junior guard
Abby Feickert has started 20 games and played in all 21 this season. She leads the team in scoring, averaging 11.4 points per game while shooting the ball at a 43.4 percent rate, making 85-of-196 from the floor, 38 of which have come from three-point range. Feickert, who is making her second straight appearance on the RMAC All-Academic First Team, has scored in double digits in 11 games this season, including a season high 23 points at Colorado Christian University on Dec. 14 after sinking five three-pointers.
Making her second straight appearance on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll,
Caley Barnard has competed in 19 games this season and has started 14 games. The senior from Floyd, N.M., Barnard has netted 87 points and snagged 55 rebounds. She has stolen the ball 24 times this season with 13 steals coming in the last three games. She scored a season high 11 points against Chadron State College when she made 5-of-10 field goals and 1-for-1 from the three-point line.
Sophomore forward
Anna Davern (St. Charles, Ill.) has seen action in 16 games with eight starts. Davern has netted 68 points and pulled in 53 rebounds. On the defensive end of the court, Davern has posted 13 steals and blocked four shots while grabbing 36 defensive caroms. She has added 17 assists and has made 31-of-84 field goals for 36.9 percent.
A native of Phoenix, Ariz.,
Maddie Golla has competed in seven games this season. Also a member of the 2018-19 RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll, Golla has tallied two points, two assists and three rebounds in her junior campaign at UCCS.
In six games this season,
Elly Johnson has tallied 20 points, 20 rebounds, four assists, three blocked shots and three steals. The sophomore forward from Eagle, Idaho has scored 14 of her 20 points from the floor and has made 6-of-11 free throws.
Redshirt freshman
Kaity Hovasse (Colorado Springs, Colo.) started her first two games of the season this past weekend in two home wins against New Mexico Highlands University and Colorado State University-Pueblo. She has played in 14 games and is averaging 4.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. She has snagged seven steals and blocked six shots. At the other end of the court, Hovasse is shooting the ball at a 44.6 percent rate (25-of-56) and has drained six three-pointers this season. She scored a career high 15 points this past Saturday against the ThunderWolves.
A three-time selection to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll, senior guard
Chelsea Pearson has notched seven starts and played in 20 games this season. From Highlands Ranch, Colo., Pearson is averaging 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. She is shooting 35.2 percent from the floor this season (38-of-108) and 30.5 percent from long range (25-of-82). In just the second game of the season, Pearson scored 35 points including eight three-pointers in a home win against Texas-Permian Basin.

Bo Shaffer is making her second appearance on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. She scored a season high nine points this past Friday night in a home win over New Mexico Highlands, scoring all nine points from downtown. In nine games this season, she has tallied 16 points, eight rebounds, one steal and blocked one shot. Four of her six field goals have come from three-point range.
Junior guard
Tatum Tellin (Grapevine, Texas) has competed in all 21 games this season. A member of the 2018-19 RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll, Tellin has registered 75 points, 63 rebounds, nine dimes and stole the ball four times. She is averaging 3.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game and has made 15-of-18 free throws for 83.3 percent.
UCCS enters a four-game road trip with a 6-15 overall record and the 12
th best mark in the conference at 5-10. The Mountain Lions will travel to MSU Denver on Friday, Feb. 7 followed by a road game at Chadron State College on Feb. 8.
