PUEBLO, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball four-game winning streak was snapped tonight at Colorado State University-Pueblo, 74-58. The loss moves the Mountain Lions to 15-8 overall and 11-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. CSU-Pueblo improves their record to 11-13 on the season (9-9 RMAC).
UCCS jumped to an 8-0 lead to start the game Friday night in Pueblo, Colo., but the ThunderWolves clawed their way back and eventually took at 27-25 lead with 3:17 left in the first half, taking away the Mountain Lions last lead of the night.
Both teams were knotted at 27-27 with just over two minutes left in the first, but the Pack held a 32-27 lead at the half and would continue their run into the second half, outscoring UCCS 21-0.
The Mountain Lions first bucket of the second half came almost four minutes into the half when
Blend Avdili hit a three-pointer to cut into the Pack's 18-point lead, 48-30. UCCS was unable to overcome the deficit and trailed by as many as 22 points.
Avdili scored a team high 20 points behind six three-pointers, the third time this season he has made six buckets from three-point range. He added seven rebounds, two assists and blocked a shot.
Alijah Comithier came off the bench to snag a game high eight rebounds and chipped in three points.
Parker Gaddis added seven rebounds, three steals and five points.
The Mountain Lions made 39.6 percent from the floor (21-of-53), 34.8 percent from three-point range (8-of-23), and 53.3 percent from the free throw line (8-of-15).
UCCS committed 21 turnovers that led to 24 points for the ThunderWolves. The Mountain Lions held a 41-28 advantage on the boards, including 9-4 on the offensive glass.
Three ThunderWolves scored in double figures behind Brandon McGhee's game high 21 points.
UCCS will travel to Las Vegas, N.M. to take on New Mexico Highlands University Saturday night at 7 p.m.
