LAST TIME OUT
-
The Mountain Lions went 1-1 over the weekend, starting their weekend with a 49-57 loss against Metropolitan State University of Denver. UCCS started the game in rhythm to what fans are used to witnessing at home and led the first quarter 17-15. The second quarter is when the Mountain Lions started to fall behind and the Roadrunner's offense proved hard to stop with them shooting 6-of-11 from the field (54.4 percent). MSUD's defense was hard for UCCS to break in the second half as they were held to just 19 points. Abby Feickert led the team with 11 points and Kaity Hovasse and freshman Ellie Moore worked the defensive end with Hovasse stacking up seven rebounds and two blocks to Moore's three steals.
-
Saturday night fans saw the Mountain Lions more consistent in their play, even shooting 75 percent from the free throw line. CSC fouled three times in the last 50 seconds of the game to seal their fate as UCCS shot 5-of-6 from the charity stripe to come out with the 70-64 win. The Mountain Lions played unforgiving defense, not uncommon for them, to hold the Eagles to just five points in the first quarter and force 19 turnovers for the game. Offensively UCCS shared the wealth with nine of the 11 players getting on the board and five of them putting up eight points. Ellie Moore led the team with 11 points. UCCS outscored CSC 42-20 in the paint and capitalized on the turnovers to put up another 21 points.

THE SERIES
-
The Mountain Lions fall behind the ThunderWolves with an all-time record of 22-35. UCCS was able to blow away CSUP at home at the beginning of the month, but road games prove more difficult for the Mountain Lions as they are 6-24 when playing at CSUP.
-
NMHU is a young team this year with most of their roster being Freshman. This made the last match-up against the Cowgirls a dominating win for UCCS, 74-39. The Mountain Lions will look to extend their eight game win streak against NMHU to bring them closer to tying the all-time record 22-25.
