GOLDEN, Colo. – Competing in their first road game of the 2020-21 season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team lost a 64-54 decision at No. 8 Colorado School of Mines Saturday night in Golden, Colo.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mountain Lions quickly grabbed a 7-1 lead to start the game behind a jumper from
Alijah Comithier and a three-pointer and two free throws from
DaRaun Clark.
Trailing 14-13 just halfway through the first half, the Mountain Lions went on a 9-0 run to snag a 22-14 lead. After one half of action, the Mountain Lions held a 26-25 lead over CSM.
The Orediggers took a 29-28 lead less than two minutes in the second half and never trailed for the remainder of the game. UCCS came within one point of tying CSM, 55-54, after Comithier hit a jumper with two minutes left in regulation, but the Orediggers closed the game outscoring UCCS, 65-54.
STATS FROM THE GAME
Comithier paced the offense for UCCS with 15 points behind 5-of-8 field goals and 5-of-7 free throws. He added five rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot.
William Becker pulled down a game and career high 14 points (11 defensive) to go with six points, three assists and two blocks.
DaRaun Clark scored six of his 12 points from three-point range and the other six points from the free throw line as he sank all six attempts.
Parker Gaddis came off the bench to tally 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot.
Neither team shot above 35 percent from the floor tonight. UCCS finished the contest making 16-of-50 from the floor (32 percent) as Mines hit on 21-of-59 field goals.
Despite only shooting 18.2 percent from three-point range (4-of-22), UCCS was solid from the charity stripe after making 18-of-21 attempts.
The Orediggers Michael Glen led all scorers with 17 points. Mines was held to only two made three-pointers on 12 attempts.
UP NEXT
The Mountain Lions are slated to host Chadron State College and Black Hills State University this coming weekend, Dec. 18-19. Both games will tip-off at approximately 7:30 p.m. following the women's games.
