Men's XC Earns Bid to DII National Invite with 6th Place Finish at RMAC Championship

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's cross country team finished 6th in the RMAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning at Monument Valley Park. The Mountain Lions battled against the rest of the RMAC in an attempt to claim the conference crown of the top Cross Country team.

Men's Race Highlights
  • The Mountain Lions finished in the 6th position of the race as a team after recording 151 points. The top five teams were as follows: 1) Colorado School of Mines (22 points), 2) Western Colorado University (60 points), 3) Colorado Christian University (89 points), 4) Adams State University (95 points), and 5) Colorado Mesa University (131 points). Matthew Schramm was the top finisher for UCCS, crossing the finish line at 25:41.10, followed by Luke Rodriguez (25:48.90), Mark Simmons (25:51.40), Gavin Harden (26:05.6) and Sam Nofziger (26:06.90).
  • The Mountain Lions finished in the top 6 as a team in this race, meaning they have qualified for the DII XC National Invitational next month, Saturday, November 14!
  • Colorado School Mines' Dylan Ko won the individual race and RMAC Cross Country Runner of the Year with a time of 24:18.40 and was followed by his teammate Kyle Moran in 3rd place with a time of 24:23.30. Adam State's Isaiah Rodarte took second place overall with a time of 24:22.10.
 
Beyond the Finish Line
  • Junior Luke Rodriguez notched a career best time in this race of 25:48.90, besting his previous career mark of 26:23.80.
  • Senior Matthew Schramm was named Second Team All-RMAC!

  • As they qualified for the NCAA DII XC National Invitational, the Mountain Lions will be competing next month on Saturday, November 14 in Lubbock, Texas at the LCU Cross Country Course.
