10/14/2020 12:53:00 PM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In the second week of the Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country National Coaches polls, both University of Colorado Colorado Springs programs are ranked in the top 10 nationally.

The Mountain Lions women's team dropped two spots in the national rankings to No. 8 after receiving 60 points.  UCCS is coming off a team win from last Friday's West Texas A&M Buffalo Stampede, nearly recording a perfect score (17) to top all seven teams.  UCCS was led by Hannah Ellis who won her third straight race in a time of 18:23.0.

The men's program also moved down two spots from last week's No. 7 debut.  UCCS is ranked ninth in the second round of national rankings with 49 points.  The Mountain Lions last meet was held Sept. 18 at the UCCS XC Open.

Leading the women's national poll is Adams State University with 99 points and one first-place vote.  Colorado School of Mines is the top ranked men's team with a 105 points and seven first-place votes.

Both Mountain Lions teams will return to competition on Oct. 24 for the conference championship meet.

The committee consists of coaches that volunteered to represent their conference. Division II conferences with teams competing in 2020 are the LSC, RMAC, MIAA, PBC, GSC, GMAC and GVLC.

Each Monday by 5 p.m. the conference representative submits a ranking of the top six men's and top six women's teams in their conference. A team cannot be ranked in their conference or nationally until they have competed this season.

Each Tuesday by 5 p.m. the conference representative submits a national ranking of all of the teams (from the conference rankings) in order from 1-15 for the men's and women's teams.
