LAST TIME OUT
  • The Mountain Lions kicked off last weekend's games with their first conference win of the season on Friday at Dixie State University.  UCCS played strong defense the entire game holding one of the top shooting teams in the conference to just 14 points in the first quarter and forced 18 turnovers for the game.  Madi Gaibler had a dominating performance with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Following their win over the Trailblazers, UCCS fell to No. 12 Westminster College.  The first half the Mountain Lions performed neck-and-neck with WC, but the Griffins hit more three-pointers to take the lead.  Strong defense by WU kept UCCS off of the free-throw line giving them a 15 point advantage.  Anna Davern had a remarkable night racking stats in all categories with 10 points, five rebounds, five steals, and two assists.

THE SERIES
  • The Mountain Lions record against the Skyhawks is 22-30.  UCCS looks to break a two-game losing streak to FLC.  The last time the Mountain Lions defeated FLC was Jan. 7, 2017 in Gallogly Events Center.
  • UCCS is currently on a six-game winning streak (and have won 10 of their last 11) against ASU making the overall series record in favor of UCCS, 23-18.

SCOUTING REPORT
  • Jordan Carter is a big asset for Fort Lewis proving to be capable on both ends of the court.  Carter is currently No. 8 in the RMAC for rebounds averaging nearly seven a game and No. 2 in field goal percentage hitting just over 50 percent of her shots.
  • Zakiya Beckles dominates for ASU ranking in three statistical categories for the RMAC.  Beckles is No. 8 in three-point percentage at 31.6 percent, No. 7 in three-pointers made per game averaging 2.3, and No. 10 in the RMAC with steals with 1.5 per game.

HOT TAKES
  • Abby Feickert dominated the stats last weekend adding 13 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, one block, and three assists to her count.
  • Freshman Makenna Baker made 4-of-9 against Westminster adding 11 points to her totals.
  • Madi Gaibler ranks No. 9 in the RMAC in blocked shots averaging .8 a game and totaling 10 for the season.

UCCS UNDER HEAD COACH LYNN PLETT
  • Lynn Plett returns in 2019-20 for his fourth year on the sideline for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.  The 2018-19 season finished with a six-way fourth place finish in the RMAC regular season standings with a 12-10 conference record and a 13-15 overall mark.  Off the court, the Mountain Lions received their first RMAC Brechler Award, besting all 16 teams in the conference with a 3.660 grade point average.
  • Plett spent four seasons at Northern Kentucky, where the Norse qualified for the Women's Basketball Invitational postseason tournament each season during the transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. He served on the NCAA Women's Basketball Rules Committee from 2007 through 2011.
  • Plett was the head coach at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, from 2002 through 2007, and his teams qualified for three NCAA Division II Tournaments in his career. Plett entered Division II coaching at Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana, in 1994, where he also doubled as athletic director.
