Cross Country Programs Earn USTFCCCA Team and Individual Awards

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association released the 2019 NCAA Division II All-Academic Teams and All-Academic Athletes earlier today, with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions earning multiple awards. 
 
Both men's and women's teams received the 2019 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award.  In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
 
The women's cross country program earned a 3.78 team GPA while the men's team recorded a 3.22 team GPA.
 
Individually, six student-athletes were tabbed All-Academic for the 2019 season. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

The Mountain Lions closed the 2019 season in Sacramento, Calif. at the NCAA Division II Championship meet.  The women's squad scored 471 points finishing 15th overall, while the men's program scored 491 points to finish 20th out of 34 teams.
