Mountain Lions Back in the Win Column with a Win over Chadron State, 89-79

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team gets back in the win column as they take down conference foe Chadron State College, 89-79. That brings the Mountain Lions' record 11-6 overall and 7-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Mountain Lions found their rhythm offensively in this game, shooting 62.1 percent (18-29 FG) in the first half and 50.8 percent (32-63 FG) for the game. They also held CSC to 38.7 percent in the first half and 41.4 percent for the game. UCCS also finished the game with 23 assists, five steals and five blocks.

Blend Avdili led all scorers with 21 points (8-15 FG), which included a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Padiet Wang and Parker Gaddis were the next top scorers for UCCS with 19 and 12 points, respectively, with Wang going 3-for-5 from long range and Gaddis tallying a game high six assists.

Payton Kaiser and Enzo Sechi contributed off the bench with a combined 14 points, six for Kaiser and eight for Sechi.

After going back and forth for the first few minutes of the first half, UCCS took the lead with just over 16 minutes to play and would not give it up for the rest of the half. The Eagles were able to hang around thanks to 13 made free throws in the half and the Mountain Lions took a five-point, 47-42 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, CSC was able to take the lead with 15 minutes left to play, but that proved to be too much time as UCCS regained the lead with 9:28 left and would not relinquish it again. Free throws were not enough for CSC to cut into the UCCS lead as the Mountain Lions were able to run out the final 15 seconds.

UCCS is back in action tomorrow night as they get set to take on Metropolitan State University of Denver. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside the Gallogy Events Center.
