The Mountain Lions fell to the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets last Friday night, 62-79.Ā UCCS put up a fight with their signature solid defense and out rebounded BHSU by 13 boards. However, with three of the Yellow Jackets shooting double digits the Mountain Lions' defense proved not to be enough.Ā Abby Fieckert led the team offensively with 16 points, shooting 75 percent from field goal range and downtown.

UCCS found themselves evenly match against South Dakota School of Mines Saturday night with three lead changes and four ties throughout the game.Ā In the end the Mountain Lions lost to the Hardrockers, 58-74. UCCS came out hot in the first quarter leading most of the way, making 9-of-14 attempts, then went cold during the second quarter with SDSMT holding them to just 12 points.Ā The Hardrockers also took advantage of the 25 times they were sent to the line shooting 68 percent. Chelsea Pearson lit up the three-point line where six of her 12 points came from. Pearson also added three rebounds and a steal to her stats.

The Mountain Lions played Chadron State last February at home where they blew them away, 80-45.Ā This puts UCCS 22-14 all time against the Eagles.

UCCS faced MSU Denver at home last February with similar results to the Chadron State game, 84-69.Ā The Mountain Lions trail the Roadrunners with a 11-37 overall record.

Jori Peters ranks No. 5 in assists for Chadron State, averaging 4.1 a game.Ā A prominent player for the Eagles, Peters averages 33.5 minutes a game shooting 85.3 percent at the line and adds nearly five rebounds for her team a game.

Jaiden Galloway, from MSU Denver, shows her basketball I.Q. as she ranks No. 3 in the RMAC in assists and steals averaging 4.3 assists and 2.4 steals per game.Ā Galloway had a career high seven steals last weekend, a stat that the Roadrunners haven't seen from a single player since 2010.

Freshman Madison Lord had an outstanding weekend with seven boards Friday night and shooting 100 percent Saturday night in field goals (3-for-3) and free throw line (2-for-2).

Chelsea Pearson added 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and three steals to her stats this weekend, putting her third on the team for field goals made per game and second for three pointers made per game, under Abby Fickert.

Freshman Ellie Moore leads the team in blocked shots with 12 for the season, averaging .8 a game.

UCCS UNDER HEAD COACH LYNN PLETT

Lynn Plett returns in 2019-20 for his fourth year on the sideline for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.Ā The 2018-19 season finished with a six-way fourth place finish in the RMAC regular season standings with a 12-10 conference record and a 13-15 overall mark.Ā Off the court, the Mountain Lions received their first RMAC Brechler Award, besting all 16 teams in the conference with a 3.660 grade point average.

Plett spent four seasons at Northern Kentucky, where the Norse qualified for the Women's Basketball Invitational postseason tournament each season during the transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. He served on the NCAA Women's Basketball Rules Committee from 2007 through 2011.

Plett was the head coach at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, from 2002 through 2007, and his teams qualified for three NCAA Division II Tournaments in his career. Plett entered Division II coaching at Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana, in 1994, where he also doubled as athletic director. He won the GLVC championship and was named GLVC Coach of the Year in his first season and coached an All-American, two-time conference player of the year and a two-time NCAA Division II scoring leader.Ā
