Lacrosse Falls to Rockhurst in RMAC Quarterfinal Match, 17-9

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Competing in their first ever Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament, the No. 5 seed University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team fell to No. 4 seed Rockhurst University, 17-9, Thursday afternoon in St. Charles, Mo.  No. 2 seed Lindendwood University is hosting the six-team conference tournament in St. Charles, Mo.

The Hawks jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of action before freshman Angela Naughton took advantage of a free position shot to put UCCS on the board, 3-1.

After four straight goals from the Hawks, Naughton converted again on a free position shot with 7:59 left in the first half.  The Mountain Lions headed into halftime trailing the Hawks, 9-2, behind Logan Derosia's three goals.

UCCS stormed out of halftime to find the back of the net three straight times from Heather O'Hern, Audrey Napp and Madison Ellis, cutting into RU's lead, 10-5.  Derosia and Kiera Lowe swapped goals in the next two minutes before the Hawks out-scored UCCS in the final 20 minutes of action, 7-3.

O'Hern, Lowe and Naughton each chipped in two goals for UCCS.  Lowe led UCCS with five shot attempts, four of which landed on frame.

Natalie Church accounted for nine of the Mountain Lions 14 draw controls.  

Derosia led both teams with seven goals and nine shots on goal.

UCCS was outshot by Rockhurst, 39-26, and edged in ground balls, 12-10.

Emma Becker started in goal for the Mountain Lions, making six saves in the first 24 minutes of action.  Kennedy Travis closed the game between the posts, notching six saves.

The Mountain Lions close their season with a 6-10 overall record.
