ALAMOSA, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team set new program records with a dominating 17-3 win over Adams State University to take the series Sunday afternoon at the ASU Baseball Field.
The Mountain Lions (21-13, 13-7 RMAC) recorded the most doubles (10), second most hits (19), and the third most runs (17) in a single game in program history. UCCS out-hit Adams State 19-6 with 11 different Mountain Lions registering a hit in the ballgame, and eight different Mountain Lions tallying an RBI in the 14-run win.
Junior

Hayden Salverda,

Cam Aufderheide each through one full inning with Salverda and Neeley allowing one run on one hit each, as Aufderheide shut out the Grizzlies in his one inning.
Sunday's game four continued the trend of UCCS bringing the first run across, as the Mountain Lions scored one run in the top of the second inning.
John Mallon got the inning going with a base hit up the middle, followed by a
Ryan Schmidt double to put runners on second and third with no outs. Leadoff hitter
Matthew Clarke provided some situational hitting with a fly ball to left field that was deep enough to score Mallon for the 1-0 lead.
Adams State was able to retaliate in the bottom half of the second with two outs as a hit by pitch, followed by two base hits evened up the game at 1-1.
After the second inning, the Mountain Lions took over the ball game by exploding for five runs in the fifth inning, six runs in the eighth inning, and five runs in the ninth. In that 16-run span, UCCS recorded 16 of their 19 hits in those three scoring innings, while also staying patient at the plate by drawing five walks.

Cody Norton tacked on another four RBI game by going 2-for-5 with a double, while Mallon scored four runs as he went 2-for-4 with a double as well.

series is scheduled for Friday, Apr. 12 at 3 p.m.
